Episode Highlights

Why I Started the Rep Your Brand Podcast

”Two years ago, we were in the thick of a pandemic, and everyone was turning to building their personal brands and an audience. And as someone who has created content on LinkedIn for three years, I have seen firsthand the doors [a podcast] can open.

My thought was that if I can at least help other people, specifically other B2B marketers, realize the potential of having these guests talk about their experiences from a tactical perspective, it will help them figure out what they want to do or how to get started.”

The Show Brought So Much Value to Me and Hopefully You, the Listeners

”I’ve been able to get into conversations that I’ve never been able to be in before. I’ve been able to do many cool projects like this podcast. I’ve been able to do brand deals. I have a merch line. I’ve also been able to drive a ton of business for Alyce. I’ve been able to help so many other marketers that have been impacted by these layoffs and other issues that are going on, and find new roles. And to me, that is fulfilling.”

Why I’m Ending Rep Your Brand

”In January of 2023, it would have been two years since the first episode. […] It was at the peak of when personal branding was such a hot topic, and it is still an important topic.

For me, and I’m going to give you God’s honest truth. When I started creating content on LinkedIn, I was known as a failed marketer because I was always talking about failed marketing content.

Now, I had the podcast, and people started to categorize me as a personal brand person. So they took me away from the marketing aspect and put me on social media and the personal brand piece.

And that was cool. I was like, ‘Oh, that’s fun.’ But I don’t do this full-time. I’m a marketer at heart, and I want to continue to be a marketer and do amazing marketing work. So after a while, I was like, ‘I’m getting pigeonholed into being a social media person.’ And there’s nothing wrong with that. I just wanted to go back to being a marketer and being known as a marketer.”
